Minimum System Requirements

Wherever possible use hardware and software configurations for which your institution already has expertise. If you are primarily an IBM AIX shop, try using an existing server that is underutilized. Once you get u.achieve installed and running in a test environment, you may decide you need a more powerful server for production. That will be a much easier decision to make and justify once u.achieve is running on your campus in your computing environment with your student data.

Windows or UNIX?

We have no particular preference between Windows and UNIX platforms. If configured properly, u.achieve can work equally well in either environment. If you are already an NT/2000 shop with good support, we encourage you to stick with your strengths and select the Windows version of u.achieve. If you are primarily a UNIX shop, use your favorite flavor of UNIX. If you are fortunate enough to have expertise in both areas, then you likely have your own criteria for selecting the platform where particular applications will run.
